| This website is about sharing family pictures In brief You can browse all the publically available images - just click 'browse all' button to see one randomly selected picture from each room To participate more fully, use the 'sign-up'
button to become a member who can log-in and upload pictures Members Any relation, spouse, partner, sibling or descendent of the Highgate Hetheringtons can join the site for free just by signing up - guests are welcome to view the public images Members include people of all ages from family groups named Briggs, Cave, Griffin, Griffiths, Hendley, Hetherington, Howard, Hucks, Phillips, Reading, Smith, Stedman etc etc. An ever growing family tree can be found at 
[www.Geni.com] but you have to be invited by a family member to joinRooms The website is organised as a gallery with 'rooms', each room belongs to a website member Members can have as many rooms as they like and upload as many pictures as they like into their own rooms Anybody may view images which have not been hidden by the owner from public view Other rooms and/or individual pictures are hidden and can only be viewed and downloaded by logged-in members Guests and members may: find pictures by room name find pictures by owner and/or family name find pictures by their title or caption or original filename Logged-in members may: upload pictures one at a time build a collection of personal favourites download original images for local storage and printing edit their personal data to permit update of email address etc. using the 'myself' button email another signed up member or the webmaster using the 'contact' button display a list of members if you lose your password click  FTP up upload a group of pictures into one room in a single batch FTP down download pictures collected in a 'basket' whilst browsing PICTURES Pictures are stored here in the native size, as you upload them, to preserve quality. Members must first create one or more 'rooms' into which they upload their pictures When a picture is uploaded the site builds a thumbnail for preview [When selected for viewing, the site builds two further copies of the picture in 2 sizes to suit the displays COMING SOON] Once uploaded, other logged-in members can download the original picture or the smaller versions. Members are encouraged to upload a self portrait or two !! We provide: a free image sharing archive free email addresses in the form name@hetherington.info FTP centre with personal access codes for major uploads / sharing large picture files - this could be extended to allow free exchange of large files rather than use email on demand Finally, if it isn't linked by a button at the top of the page (these change once logged-in) you should be able to view one or more pictures by using the find button |
| Home page thumbnails Each time the home page is accessed the thumbnails are updated according to different rules. This way the page stays fresh and you may stumble on something interesting Once you click the thumbnail it will take you to the room that the picture is kept in and you can view the others associated with it The browse all thumbnails work in a random fashion too |
